This month’s Bible study is called “Take the Lead.” No matter where we serve, work and live, as Christians, we have a position of leadership.
This week we will look at overcoming our fear. This study will lead us to face our fears when it comes to leadership so that we can accept responsibility for God’s call on their lives, listen to God’s commands, and act courageously.

GOOD GRIEF: How do we move beyond?
Read John 20:1-8
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2020:1-8&version=NIV

In the conclusion of this month’s study on grief, our lesson writer states we can never overcome grief without a strong, healthy relationship with God. To move beyond a supernatural response to grief to completely overcoming it, we need to do three things:

1. Recognize that Jesus is the Messiah (John 20:1-10).
Where are you on your own spiritual journey? Are you able to see your life in perspective to God and His great and awesome plan for you that was known by Him before He placed the stars in the sky?

2. Resolve to trust Jesus in all circumstances (John 20:11-15).
A friend sent me this encouraging verse today:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version, ©2011)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=phil%204:6-7&version=NIV
Our lesson writer asks, "what’s the difference between believing in Christ and trusting in Christ?" And then states, "Without a firm resolve to trust in Christ, overcoming grief is an impossible dream."

3. Rejoice in the fact that Jesus provides everlasting life (John 20:16-18).
Our lesson writer states "Mary’s reaction demonstrates the final step in overcoming grief: rejoicing in the Lord. When we’re able to rejoice in all things, we can overcome even the most draining bouts of grief."

I don’t pretend for a minute to tell you or believe that you will not experience pain, doubt or fear, or that life will always be rosy. But, God is The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Source of Mercy and Compassion, and The Source of All Comfort. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
Remember, God who created everything is still in control of His creation. Keep praying for each other, caring for each other and take care of your families. John

Care Groups

Doing LIFE together.
Because LIFE Group meetings on Sunday are mostly about Bible study, there is not always enough time for fellowship. As previously announced, we re-assigned Care Groups during our meeting yesterday.
What this means for members of Homebuilders is you have been assigned to a small group for the next quarter of the year. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with a small group of four or five couples. For visitors to Homebuilders, we are glad you are here. Come back anytime.
If you would like to join a Care Group or would like more information about being added to our ministry roll, let us know.
There is nothing exclusive about Homebuilders. We are an open group. While we will continue to fellowship together and meet together on Sunday morning, each Care Group is a small ministry group within Homebuilders. We have identified at least two purposes for this: (1) to assist us to minister to each member; and (2) to continue building community within Homebuilders.

GOOD GRIEF:
HOW CAN WE HELP OTHERS RESPOND TO GRIEF SUPERNATURALLY?

Read 2 Corinthians 1:1-11
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians%201:1-11&version=MSG
1-2 I, Paul, have been sent on a special mission by the Messiah, Jesus, planned by God himself. I write this to God's congregation in Corinth, and to believers all over Achaia province. May all the gifts and benefits that come from God our Father and the Master, Jesus Christ, be yours! Timothy, someone you know and trust, joins me in this greeting.
The Rescue
3 All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel!
4-5 He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.
6-7 When we suffer for Jesus, it works out for your healing and salvation. If we are treated well, given a helping hand and encouraging word, that also works to your benefit, spurring you on, face forward, unflinching. Your hard times are also our hard times. When we see that you're just as willing to endure the hard times as to enjoy the good times, we know you're going to make it, no doubt about it.
8-11 We don't want you in the dark, friends, about how hard it was when all this came down on us in Asia province. It was so bad we didn't think we were going to make it. We felt like we'd been sent to death row, that it was all over for us. As it turned out, it was the best thing that could have happened. Instead of trusting in our own strength or wits to get out of it, we were forced to trust God totally—not a bad idea since he's the God who raises the dead! And he did it, rescued us from certain doom. And he'll do it again, rescuing us as many times as we need rescuing. You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation—I don't want you in the dark about that either. I can see your faces even now, lifted in praise for God's deliverance of us, a rescue in which your prayers played such a crucial part. (The Message)

1. BY KNOWING GOD (2 Corinthians 1:1-3)
Why is knowing God important to helping others respond to grief?
2. BY SHARING GOD (2 Corinthians 1:4-7)
What does it mean to share God’s comfort with others?
3. BY PRAYING TO GOD (2 Corinthians 1:8-11)
What does it mean to pray to God?

Write down a short thought in response to each question and bring it with you to LIFE Group on April 17th.

GOOD GRIEF
What does a supernatural response to grief look like?

Read Psalm 31:1-24
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+31%3A1-24&version=NIV

As you may know and many will remember from our study last summer, David was a man after God’s heart. But, in this Pslam, David is dealing with his very own grief following his troubles. Commentator Matthew Henry wrote back in the 1700's:

“The time of life is in God's hands, to lengthen or shorten, make bitter or sweet, according to the counsel of his will. The way of man is not in himself, nor in our friend's hands, nor in our enemies' hands, but in God's.”
As we discussed Sunday, it is Christ’s Resurrection which allows us to respond to grief supernaturally. This coming Sunday we will explore the answer to the question: “What does a supernatural response to grief look like?” We must have:
1. Uninhibited Praise (Psalm 31:7-10)
2. Undeterred Trust (Psalm 31:14-16)
3. Unceasing Love (Psalm 31:21-24)
Following difficult times in his life, David turned to the Lord as his rock and refuge. God’s comfort also waits for each of us. Remember, God who created everything is still in control of His creation. Keep praying for each other, caring for each other and take care of your families. John
