2. THIS WEEK: January 22 through January 28
A) The Pastor’s First Glance Class concludes this Sunday morning, January 22. If you have recently joined or have been visiting FBC Tulsa and would like to take a closer look at our fellowship of believers, please make your reservation for the January sessions by calling Deron Spoo ’s office, 918-594-5019, to make a reservation. The class will meet in the Church
Parlor at 9:45 a.m. and will be led by our Lead Pastor, Deron Spoo.
B) FBC’s Annual Business Meeting will be held this Sunday, January 22, at Noon. There will be a chili pie meal served for $4.00 per person. No prior reservations are needed and you need not participate in the meal in order to attend the meeting. The meeting should conclude around
1:00 p.m.
C) Our Winter Bible Study continues this Sunday evening, January 22, at 6:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. The study, Turnaround Lives, is based on I & II Peter and is being led by Charlie Curran, pastor of the First Christian Church in Owasso. If we all ended up where we started, what would ourlives look like? For most of us, it would not be a very pretty picture. So we are thankful to God for His work of grace in our lives. We will focus on the themes of Peter’s later ministry as he writes to Christians in the 1st Century. Those themes give us hope that no matter where we are
spiritually, we too can have Turnaround Lives. The study will conclude on Sunday night, January 29.
D) Our Student Ministry Outreach Night, “Movie & Popcorn Night”, will be held on Friday, January 27, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
E) A new book study for Adults has started on Wednesday nights. Sanctuary of the
Soul, by Richard J. Foster, will be taught by both Deron Spoo and Eric Costanzo for the next couple of months. Adults will meet in the Commons Area (Kaffe Bona) at 6:00 p.m.
F) Ladies, the following three Women's Bible & Book Studies are now being
offered. Prices vary from $9 to $15 and scholarships are available. Childcare
is provided for the Wednesday studies by contacting Cindy Seay at 918-594-5028
for reservations. Please contact the leader listed for each study for
additional information. Take this time to meet new friends and to grow from
these wonderful studies.

3. THIS SEASON:
A) The Student Potato Bar, for all members, is coming up on Sunday, February 5. Tickets for the Potato Bar are $10 a person ($5 for children under 12) with proceeds going to fund the students’ Seattle Mission Trip during the upcoming Spring Break. The cost includes a loaded baked potato, salad, dessert and drink. Tickets may be purchased in the Detroit Entrance. The luncheon will
be served at both 11:00 and 12:00 on the 5th. Help support our students!
B) The Father & Daughter Banquet is coming up on Thursday, February 9. This special event is for all girls, Kindergarten through Grade 6, and their fathers. It is will held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at a cost of $15 for two people and $8 for each additional person before January 31 ($9 per person after that). Please call the Children’s Ministry Office, 918-594-5028, to reserve tickets or for more information.
C) Date Night & A Movie! On Friday evening, February 10, we will be showing the inspiriting movie Courageous. There will be no charge for the movie and there will be free popcorn and soft drinks. This is the fourth film produced and released by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany , Georgia . It has premiered in more than 1,100 theaters across the US and Canada . The movie
shocked Hollywood by debuting as the #4 movie for the weekend, pulling in nearly double the per screen average than the other films in the Tope 5. It stayed on the Top 10 for 4 weeks, while appearing on less than 1/3 of the theater screens of the other major films at the box office. Mark February 10 on your calendar and join us!
D) PROTOS & Momentum start on Sunday, February 12, with five courses:
i) Momentum:
Building the Kingdom Debt Free – a course about financial responsibility.
ii) Love & Respect – a course for married couples at any age.
iii) The Tangible Kingdom – a course about what it means to missionally.
iv) Becoming a Love and Logic Parent – a course about successful parenting.
v) Honor Begins at Home: Courageous – acourse about God’s best plan for your family.
E) Students’ Focus Weekend 2012 will be February 17-19.
This is an annual weekend event, held locally, designed especially for 7th through 12th Graders. Contact the Student Ministry Office, 918-594-5049, for additional information.
F) DivorceCare Ministry is meeting every Wednesday evening, at 6:30 p.m., in Room 609 South. Richard Quarles leads this ministry which helps individuals: 1) start healing today’ 2) realize they do not have to go through this alone; and 3) be a part of a support group with focus. As one participant shared, “I had no support until DivorceCare; without it I would still be home crying.”
G) Mission
Action Project for January! We will be providing needed items for our Caring Center . Please bring NEW socks and underwear in various sizes for men, women and children. These donated items may be placed in the collection bins located near the Security Guard’s desk in the Detroit Entrance or in the foyer of the South Education Building .

Momentum: Building the Kingdom Debt Free is a study that will change the culture of giving in our country – starting with the church, spreading to the community, and ultimately impacting the world. Momentum is an initiative to completely revolutionize the ways we handle God’s money. It’s about creating a church filled with intense, passionate, sold out, cheerful givers. You will learn to truly be doers of the Word in the area of financial responsibility. The results will be rewarding, life-changing, and lasting. This will be a 13-week course facilitated by Bobby Hart and assisted by Group Leaders. The course costs $100, for all materials, per person or couple. The course is being offered at five different times during the week. You may sign up for the one that is most convenient for you and your family, by going to the church website, www.tulsafbc.org, or by signing up in the Detroit Entrance Sunday, August 28, September 4 or September 11.

3. The Pastor’s First Glance Class, two sessions, will begin on Sunday, September 11, and conclude on Sunday, September 18. If you have recently joined or have been visiting FBC Tulsa and would like to take a closer look at our fellowship of believers, please make your reservation for the September sessions by calling Deron Spoo ’s office, 918-594-5019, to make a reservation. The class will meet in the Church Parlor at 9:45 a.m. and will be led by our Lead Pastor, Deron Spoo .
4. A beginning American Sign Language Class will start on Wednesday, September 14, and continue through November 16. The class will meet in Room 700 South from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. There is no charge for the class, but you will be able to purchase a book if you need one. Emphasis will be on conversational sign language and religious signs. Everyone is welcome to join us in learning the third most used language in the United States – which you can put to immediate use with the Deaf members of our congregation. Plus, it’s just fun!
5. SIGN Choir begins on Wednesday night, September 14, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Room 707 South. Sign Choir is a great opportunity to begin learning and applying sign language. Songs will be worked through step by step. Later, there will be opportunities to perform the songs and you can decide if you want to do that or not; it's not required. One of the favorite activities is "Christmas Caroling" for deaf people. Many people that can hear have the opportunity to hear Christmas Carols throughout the Holiday Season. We want to bless persons who are deaf with the same opportunity – they love it! There will be other opportunities to minister with music throughout the year. Please join the group on the 14th.
6. The FBC Men’s Ministry has pre-purchased 100 tickets for the premiere of the movie Courageous. The movie will premiere Friday, September 30, 7:00 p.m., at the Cinemark 17 Theater (Hwy 169 and 71st Street ). Tickets are available to FBC members at a price of $6.00 for a package of two tickets. Tickets may be purchased in the Detroit Lobby beginning this Sunday, September 4.
7. Leading the Way Capital Campaign Update! As of the end of August, we have given $3,555,471 towards our pledges totaling $4,065,949. We are just $510,478 from reaching our goal.

Missions
FBC’s Mission Action Project for September focuses on Operation Christmas Child: Samaritan’s Purse. In 1993, the first shoe box gifts were collected for young war survivors in Bosnia , and since then, over 70 million gift-filled boxes have been distributed to children in over 100 countries. Every box represents a precious child of God in need of a Savior. In addition to gifts, each box contains a Gospel booklet in the child’s own language. Through the follow-up discipleship program, over 2 million boys and girls have accepted Christ. Here is how you can help:
Empty shoe boxes, rubber bands, and labels (colored printed labels available online also) will be available behind the Security Guard’s desk, in front of the Adult Library and Children’s Library, in the Detroit Tower lobby, and in the Student Center lobby.
Label each box as to boy or girl and age—2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Tape the label to the top of the box.
Fill the box with a variety of items that will bring delight to a child! A detailed list is available with the boxes. Place the provided rubber bands around the filled box and bring them to the mission action collection bins by the Security Guard’s desk in the Detroit Entrance or in the foyer of the South Education Building .
Wonderful volunteers will wrap our gifts, so no wrapping is required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift! The deadline for item collection will be Sunday, November 6. For more information, contact Maribeth Dean at 481-5834 or check out www.samaritanspurse.org!

On September 7 – “Loved by God”, by Liz Curtis Higgs, will be held every Wednesday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., beginning September 7. This seven week course will be led by Jill Willey, with possibly a second study, in Room 410 North. Does the Lord love us when we fail him? When we run in the wrong direction? Is God’s love enough? Liz answers those vital questions in a unique, heart-changing way, bringing to life the ancient stories of Jacob and Leah for 21st Century women. Her research is thorough and her style is appropriate for women at all ages and stages. Liz has one goal in mind: reaching women’s hearts with God’s life-changing love. On September 7 – “A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place ”, by Beth Moore, will be held every Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., beginning September 7. This eleven week course will be led by Pam Rader in Room 410 North. The study is taken primarily from the Old Testament book of Exodus and it takes you on a journey into why God would choose to live in a wilderness tabernacle made by human hands. You will explore the parallels between the physical tabernacle and the tabernacle of the human heart in this fascinating account of the building of the tabernacle, the significance of its intricate design, its pivotal role in God's eternal plan, and its variety of meanings for women today. On September 8 – “DownPour, He Will Come to Us Like the Rain”, by James MacDonald, will be held every Thursday, 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m., beginning September 8. This twelve week course will meet Room 410 North. This study can provide an absolute soaking of God’s Spirit for your walk with Him. Maybe you are experiencing a season where your relationship with God seems empty and dry. Does your heart long for an encounter with God that will refresh your love for Him and saturate you with more joy than anything you have known before? You can experience spiritual renewal and victory. Consider your dry spell over and bring on the downpour. There is no childcare for this study.
On September 14 – “Bravehearts”, by Sharon Hersh, will be held every Wednesday, 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., beginning September 14. This eleven week course will be led by Dell Coutant in the new Small Conference Room (former bride’s room) off the Detroit Entrance. Within every woman is the desire for extraordinary relationships. There is the craving for intimacy and interconnectedness, companionship and camaraderie. Yet most women eventually begin to wonder if they want too much. What is behind this yearning? Does it have a purpose? In this study, you will see how your deepest longings can lead you to rich relationships and give you the courage to love with abandon. On September 20 – “Always True: God's Promises When Life Is Hard“, by James MacDonald, will be held every Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., starting September 20. This seven week course will be led by Susan Jacobs at CenterCross Church at 61st & Mingo. The study will lead to an understanding of the nature of God’s promises, which are always true whether in good times or during trials in the believer’s life. During an extended season of personal crises in his life, James discovered that God’s promises are always true and that we can trust God to be faithful to His word no matter what we face. Missions
FBC’s Mission Action Project for September focuses on Operation Christmas Child: Samaritan’s Purse. In 1993, the first shoe box gifts were collected for young war survivors in Bosnia , and since then, over 70 million gift-filled boxes have been distributed to children in over 100 countries. Every box represents a precious child of God in need of a Savior. In addition to gifts, each box contains a Gospel booklet in the child’s own language. Through the follow-up discipleship program, over 2 million boys and girls have accepted Christ. Here is how you can help:
Empty shoe boxes, rubber bands, and labels (colored printed labels available online also) will be available behind the Security Guard’s desk, in front of the Adult Library and Children’s Library, in the Detroit Tower lobby, and in the Student Center lobby.
Label each box as to boy or girl and age—2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Tape the label to the top of the box.
Fill the box with a variety of items that will bring delight to a child! A detailed list is available with the boxes. Place the provided rubber bands around the filled box and bring them to the mission action collection bins by the Security Guard’s desk in the Detroit Entrance or in the foyer of the South Education Building .

Liz answers those vital questions in a unique, heart-changing way, bringing to life the ancient stories of Jacob and Leah for 21st Century women. Her research is thorough and her style is appropriate for women at all ages and stages. Liz has one goal in mind: reaching women’s hearts with God’s life-changing love. The study is taken primarily from the Old Testament book of Exodus and it takes you on a journey into why God would choose to live in a wilderness tabernacle made by human hands. You will explore the parallels between the physical tabernacle and the tabernacle of the human heart in this fascinating account of the building of the tabernacle, the significance of its intricate design, its pivotal role in God's eternal plan, and its variety of meanings for women today. Maybe you are experiencing a season where your relationship with God seems empty and dry. Does your heart long for an encounter with God that will refresh your love for Him and saturate you with more joy than anything you have known before? FBC’s August Mission Action Project helps support our Prayer Shawl & Lap Quilt Ministry. This wonderful ministry supplies handmade shawls and quilts to our members, going through difficult periods in their lives, by providing them with a physical symbol of God’s love which they can wrap themselves in or touch to feel His presence. You can help restock the supplies needed by those who volunteer in this ministry. A prayer shawl requires 500 yards, usually 5 large skeins of the same color, of “heavy” yarn. The ministry also needs quilt batting, “fat quarters”, remnants, and/or 2 yard lengths of 100% cotton fabric for quilt backing. These items may be placed in the Mission Action containers which are located around the church. Beginners and new volunteers to the ministry are always welcomed. 2. Time Capsule Update! As many of you already know, Deron is preparing a new Time Capsule to go back into the cornerstone of the church just prior to completion of the renovation. He plans to include the Bible he has been preaching from for the past two or three years in that capsule. He has made this Bible available for church members to circle their favorite Scripture and sign their name. Some of you have already availed yourself of this opportunity. This Bible will be available in the Detroit Entrance Foyer this Sunday morning, July 24, if you care to add your Scripture and name into this Bible before it goes permanently into the Time Capsule later this summer.
3. The next August sessions of the Pastor’s First Glance Class will be held on Sunday, August 7 & 14. 4. Caring Center Needs: Our Caring center is in desperate need of men’s summer t-shirts and short sleeve shirts in all sizes, especially big ones (XXL and bigger). The storage tubs at the Caring Center are empty and the racks are REALLY getting sparse. This excessive hot weather is quickly draining the supplies. Also remember that there is a need for all kinds of hygiene items: toothbrushes, razors, deodorant and toilet paper. The Caring Center can use the little travel size stuff left over from your stays at hotels and motels.

2. Time Capsule Update! As many of you already know, Deron is preparing a new Time Capsule to go back into the cornerstone of the church just prior to completion of the renovation. He plans to include the Bible he has been preaching from for the past two or three years in that capsule. He has made this Bible available for church members to circle their favorite Scripture and sign their name. Some of you have already availed yourself of this opportunity. This Bible will be available in the Detroit Entrance Foyer this Sunday morning, July 24, if you care to add your Scripture and name into this Bible before it goes permanently into the Time Capsule later this summer.

4. Caring Center Needs: Our Caring center is in desperate need of men’s summer t-shirts and short sleeve shirts in all sizes, especially big ones (XXL and bigger). The storage tubs at the Caring Center are empty and the racks are REALLY getting sparse. This excessive hot weather is quickly draining the supplies. Also remember that there is a need for all kinds of hygiene items: toothbrushes, razors, deodorant and toilet paper. The Caring Center can use the little travel size stuff left over from your stays at hotels and motels.

Ephesians has been called the “Crown of Paulism” and the “Queen of the Epistles.” There may not be any other part of the New Testament that has a more contemporary relevance for today than does the letter of Ephesians. It takes us from theory to practice; from doctrine to duty; and from what God had done to what we must do. Many commentators indicated that it is the highest reach of New Testament thought. The study will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday evenings, and 12:00 Noon on Wednesday. Sunday evening will feature an All-Church Fellowship following the study. A complimentary pizza supper will precede the Monday study and an ice cream social will follow the study time. There is no cost and no Bible study book to purchase to participate in this event. Adults of all ages are encouraged to join our study. Study guides will be available each evening.

a) When Life is Hard: Turning Trials to Gold by James MacDonald. This seven week course will meet on Wednesdays, June 8 to July 27, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., in Room 410 North. Based on James MacDonald's personal struggles during a season of trials, this study focuses on Biblical truths that provide encouragement, hope, and answers to enduring those difficult times. The course, $12 per person, will be led by Jill Willey (contact jilwilley@aol.com). For child care, please call 918-594-5028. b) Fingerprints of God by Jennifer Rothschild. This seven week course will meet on Wednesdays, June 8 to July 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., in Room 410 North. This Bible study for women exposes the wonder of God’s touch upon our lives. Participants will discover that when they experience God’s touch, they will recognize six things: honor, intimacy, shelter, guidance, redemption, and refinement. a) When Life is Hard: Turning Trials to Gold by James MacDonald. This seven week course will meet on Wednesdays, June 8 to July 27, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., in Room 410 North. Based on James MacDonald's personal struggles during a season of trials, this study focuses on Biblical truths that provide encouragement, hope, and answers to enduring those difficult times. 1. Flintco will be providing free coffee and free donuts to individuals as they come by Kaffe Bona. Although Kaffe Bona will not be fully opened, they also will be helping sponsor this free event.
Members should be able to get through the “old mirror room” and through the new (though not completed) extension of the Detroit lobby to the hallway by the Bride’s Room.
2. Also, there will be extra parking in the North Parking lot (directly across from the Student Center ) for this Easter Sunday. Also, remember that the Tul-Park, West of the Worship Center, is open for use and is covered.

CenterCross Church opens this Saturday, April 23, 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and an Easter Service will be held on Sunday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. The regular Sunday School and Worship Service schedule will begin the next Saturday, April 30, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The church is located at 61st and Hwy 169, just East of Mingo.

An added feature, following the meal in the Fellowship Hall, will be an additional piano and lighting performance in the Worship Center .

The purpose of the canvassing is to get the word out about the opening of CenterCross and to invite residents to the Open House Easter Egg Hunt for games, fun, giveaways, food and tours of the church. Detailed flyers, for you to hand out, have already been made. The plan is to knock on doors in the neighborhoods surrounding CenterCross en masse and introduce ourselves. This is a great time to say hello, smile and hand them a flyer, and invite them over. Then, there are two ways you can help canvass. Participate in: 1) the 10 day blitz, spread over the ten days prior to Easter and/or 2) this Saturday, April 9, where you can help with either a morning or an afternoon shift. The second need is for volunteers to help in the service at CenterCross during Saturday evening church, with the exception of our opening service on Easter morning. 2. CenterCross Church has been in the planning stages for months and now you are being invited to help put these plans in motion. The first area where help is needed is in door-to-door canvassing. The purpose of the canvassing is to get the word out about the opening of CenterCross and to invite residents to the Open House Easter Egg Hunt for games, fun, giveaways, food and tours of the church. Detailed flyers, for you to hand out, have already been made. The plan is to knock on doors in the neighborhoods surrounding CenterCross en masse and introduce ourselves. This is a great time to say hello, smile and hand them a flyer, and invite them over. Then, there are two ways you can help canvass. Participate in: 1) the 10 day blitz, spread over the ten days prior to Easter and/or 2) two Saturdays in April (the 2nd & 9th), where you can help with either a morning or an afternoon shift. The second need is for volunteers to help in the service at CenterCross during Saturday evening church, with the exception of our opening service on Easter morning. Volunteers are still needed in several areas for a minimum of 6 months (or more as needed). An informational meeting, 4:30 & 5:30 p.m. in the Parlor, will be held this Sunday, March 27, and you can sign up in your LIFE Group to attend the meeting.
3. Scholarships Available! Going to OBU this fall? FBC members can qualify for scholarships. Baptist Seminary students preparing for the mission field may also qualify. 4. The 9th Annual FBC Outreach Luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 14. There will be two settings for lunch, 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., to serve the needy in our community. Your help is needed in serving food and drinks, serving as a van driver/rider, greeter, clean-up person, commitment advisor, and/or being a miscellaneous helper. 3. The Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma will present a concert on Tuesday, March 22, 7:00 p.m., at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa. The SCW, now in their 22nd year, will be presenting music that “Tells the Story of Jesus”. The concert includes traditional and contemporary anthem arrangements, as well as dramatic scripture readings, that emphasize the gospel story. There is no admission charge.
4. A Called Business Meeting will be held on Sunday, March 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. There will be two purposes for this called meeting:

1. Men’s Breakfast
This Saturday, March 5th, 9:00 AM, at Canyon Crossing Retreat Center, 1651 E. Old North Road, Sand Springs, OK. $5.00 at the door.
2. For Sunday, March 6
(a) Dr. David Whitlock, President of Oklahoma Baptist University, will be our guest preacher in both morning worship services. After the late worship service, there will be a lunch where you will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Whitlock as well as hear about some of the programs at OBU. This lunch and meeting time is open to any one interested in learning more about OBU, especially to students and their parents. The price of the luncheon will be around $7 to $10. 6. Coming up in January: Our January Bible Study 2011, beginning Sunday, January 9, will be on Women in Leadership: What is leadership supposed to look like within the church? And what place, if any, do women have in leading and serving the community that follows Jesus? This year’s January Bible Study, led by Deron Spoo and Eric Costanzo, will make an honest examination of these questions in light of Scripture, church history, and current needs of the church. Join us on the 9th, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. The study on the 9th will be followed by an All Church Fellowship. The study will continue on Sunday evenings, January 16, 23 & 30.
7. There is still time for you to help with our December Mission Action Project. You can do just that by bringing all sizes of mittens, gloves, caps, and warm scarves to decorate the Christmas trees (mitten trees). The trees, assembled by our Royal Ambassadors, are outside the Preschool Suite and in the South Education Building Foyer. These items will be delivered to the John 3:16 Mission and to our Caring Center by our Girls in Action during their Christmas vacation. a) Lord Change My Attitude by James MacDonald & Barb Peil, starts Tuesday, January 11, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., for 11 weeks at 71st & 129th East Avenue in Broken Arrow, and is led by Susan Jacobs – jsjacobs53@msn.com. This study reveals that attitudes can affect whether someone stays in the Wilderness or enjoys the blessings of the Promised Land, by changing complaining to thankfulness, coveting to contentment, criticism to love, doubt to faith, and rebellion to submission.
b) Here & Now-There & Then: A Study on Revelation by Beth Moore, starts Wednesday, January 12, 9:30-11:30 a.m., for 11 weeks, and is led by Jill Willey – jilwilley@aol.com. 6. Coming up in January: Our January Bible Study 2011, beginning Sunday, January 9, will be on Women in Leadership: What is leadership supposed to look like within the church? And what place, if any, do women have in leading and serving the community that follows Jesus? This year’s January Bible Study, led by Deron Spoo and Eric Costanzo, will make an honest examination of these questions in light of Scripture, church history, and current needs of the church. Join us on the 9th, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. The study on the 9th will be followed by an All Church Fellowship. The study will continue on Sunday evenings, January 16, 23 & 30.
7. There is still time for you to help with our December Mission Action Project. You can do just that by bringing all sizes of mittens, gloves, caps, and warm scarves to decorate the Christmas trees (mitten trees). The trees, assembled by our Royal Ambassadors, are outside the Preschool Suite and in the South Education Building Foyer. These items will be delivered to the John 3:16 Mission and to our Caring Center by our Girls in Action during their Christmas vacation. 8. Women’s Ministry. The following four Bible & Book Studies are being offered in January, 2011. The studies vary in price from $9 to $15 and scholarships are available. Please contact the study leaders for further information:
a) Lord Change My Attitude by James MacDonald & Barb Peil, starts Tuesday, January 11, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., for 11 weeks at 71st & 129th East Avenue in Broken Arrow, and is led by Susan Jacobs – jsjacobs53@msn.com. This study reveals that attitudes can affect whether someone stays in the Wilderness or enjoys the blessings of the Promised Land, by changing complaining to thankfulness, coveting to contentment, criticism to love, doubt to faith, and rebellion to submission.
b) Here & Now-There & Then: A Study on Revelation by Beth Moore, starts Wednesday, January 12, 9:30-11:30 a.m., for 11 weeks, and is led by Jill Willey – jilwilley@aol.com. The study presents many points of view on Revelation and allows women to decide for themselves when interpretation varies among scholars. Childcare is available by calling 594-5028.
c) When Life is Hard: Turning Trials to Gold by James MacDonald, starts Wednesday, January 12, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., for 7 weeks, and is led by Pam Rader and Cheryl Baber – pkrader@tulsaconnect.com. This study, based on MacDonald's book, shows how his teachings came out of his own personal struggles during a long season of trials. Childcare is available by calling 594-5028.
d) Faithful, Abundant, True: Three Lives Going Deeper Still by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer & Beth Moore, starts Thursday, January 13, 12:00 Noon, for 7 weeks, in Room 410 North, and is led by Terri Moore - tessamoore27@hotmail.com. This study examines the book of Hebrews, revealing both God's faithfulness and a challenge to be faithful in difficult times; the book of Ephesians, on God's abundance’; and trusting the Holy Spirit to enable us to see what is true and what is false.

Their parents will be able to select gifts for their children and you may volunteer to be an "elf" and help with the project. Also, if you forgot your stuffing and sweet potatoes last Sunday, you can still bring them to the donation boxes in the foyers. We need 700 of each!
7. Men: Sign up for Basketball! The Men’s Ministry is in the process of organizing teams to play in our FBC league, to be held in the Student Center on Monday evenings, beginning in January. Our Adult LIFE groups are encouraged to organize a team. To sign up as a team, or an individual, please contact the Men’s Ministry Office at 594-5073.

Announcements
1. This Sunday evening will be our 2010 Family Missions Banquet, 6:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. Chris Clarke, of Happy Trails Ministry, will be the guest speaker and will be sharing about his ministry to the Equestrian Community. The dinner will be “western” and Brad & Mary Kay Henderson will provide the music. Children’s & Youth Choirs will meet at 5:00 p.m. and there will be no Student TAG meeting. This Sunday begins our month-long Missions’ Emphasis. Acts 1:8 says, "You shall be My witnesses...". We are all encouraged to be aware of the many ways we can Touch Our World for Christ…locally and "to the ends of the earth". Please utilize the Prayer Guide you’ll receive this Sunday and pray specifically for the ministries listed. You CAN make a difference. This Sunday, October 24, our opportunity will be to bring coats, blankets, and sleeping bags to be distributed at the Caring Center. Our World Mission Offering Goal this year is $210,000. Be praying what your gift will be to the offering. The receipts will be distributed in the following manner:
60% to Lottie Moon International Missions ($126,000)
22% to Annie Armstrong North American Missions ($46,200)
10% to Edna McMillan State Missions ($21,000)
8% to World Hunger ($16,800)
700 Cans & Boxes needed! The John 3:16 Thanksgiving Baskets’ ministry will be the recipient of FBC’s Mission Action Project in October. You can help by bringing large cans of sweet potatoes and boxes of stuffing mix. These items (700 of each) will be added along with other donations to the Thanksgiving baskets taken to people in need. You may bring cans and boxes all through the month of October and leave them in the collection bins in the Foyer of the South Education Building . Also, we will have special collection of these materials on Sunday, November 8, as part of the special collection with our Global Mission Emphasis. If you would like to help assemble these baskets, please contact John 3:16 at 592-1186. For more information, please contact Maribeth Dean at 481-5832.

6. The Springs is recruiting volunteers to help continue the work our church began last year in Sand Springs. There are ministries currently running that need help to continue to successfully serve the Sand Springs community. Currently, volunteers are needed with any skill set for general set-up and tear-down; workers for Preschool and Children’s ministry (must have or be able to successfully pass an FBI background check); student ministry; and/or AV technicians to run the video computer and to mix audio. Friendly faces are needed on people who have a passion for others and are not afraid to walk by faith. For more information, please contact Eric Barron, Campus Pastor, at 594-5051.
7. Our Annual Fall Attendance Emphasis is coming up on Sunday morning, November 7 (Time Change). The church will furnish Krispy Kreme Dontus for all Preschool, Children’s, Student & Adult Groups.
8. There are four PROTOS classes for Adults on Sunday evenings, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. These classes deal with Christian History, Biblical Theology, Spiritual Discipline, and Biblical Financial practices.

Our CrossOver Ministry is in need of adults, college students, singles, and/or couples who are willing to invest in these young people by driving a bus, riding a bus, teaching a Bible study, or simply spending time with the students. CrossOver meets on Sunday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Drivers are needed from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers may serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Chas Higgins, CrossOver Director, at chas.higgins@cox.net.
