1. This Sunday evening will be our 2010 Family Missions Banquet, 6:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. Chris Clarke, of Happy Trails Ministry, will be the guest speaker and will be sharing about his ministry to the Equestrian Community. The dinner will be “western” and Brad & Mary Kay Henderson will provide the music. Children’s & Youth Choirs will meet at 5:00 p.m. and there will be no Student TAG meeting. This Sunday begins our month-long Missions’ Emphasis. Acts 1:8 says, "You shall be My witnesses...". We are all encouraged to be aware of the many ways we can Touch Our World for Christ…locally and "to the ends of the earth". Please utilize the Prayer Guide you’ll receive this Sunday and pray specifically for the ministries listed. You CAN make a difference. This Sunday, October 24, our opportunity will be to bring coats, blankets, and sleeping bags to be distributed at the Caring Center. Our World Mission Offering Goal this year is $210,000. Be praying what your gift will be to the offering. The receipts will be distributed in the following manner:
60% to Lottie Moon International Missions ($126,000)
22% to Annie Armstrong North American Missions ($46,200)
10% to Edna McMillan State Missions ($21,000)
8% to World Hunger ($16,800)
700 Cans & Boxes needed! The John 3:16 Thanksgiving Baskets’ ministry will be the recipient of FBC’s Mission Action Project in October. You can help by bringing large cans of sweet potatoes and boxes of stuffing mix. These items (700 of each) will be added along with other donations to the Thanksgiving baskets taken to people in need. You may bring cans and boxes all through the month of October and leave them in the collection bins in the Foyer of the South Education Building . Also, we will have special collection of these materials on Sunday, November 8, as part of the special collection with our Global Mission Emphasis. 2. Church Directories: If you have not picked up your directory, you may do so in the Adult Library on Sundays or at the Receptionist’s Desk, Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you would like to purchase a directory for $5.00, they are now available on a first come, first serve basis.
3. Have you donated candy for the Trunk or Treat event yet? Trunk or Treat will be held on Sunday, October 31, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Super Block. We need your help in donating candy and placing it in the boxes that are located in the Detroit Entrance and the South Education Building Foyer for candy donations. We also need people who will bring their cars with their trunks decorated and pass out candy and prizes. If you can bring a car, please contact Debbie Thompson at 594-5023 or Cindy at 594-5028.
4. The next sessions of the First Glance Class have been set for Sunday, October 31 and November 7. If you have recently joined or have been visiting FBC Tulsa and wish to take a closer look at this fellowship of believers, please make your reservation for the October sessions of First Glance by calling Deron’s office at 594-5019. These sessions will meet in the Church Parlor, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., and will be led by our Lead Pastor, Deron Spoo.
5. Wednesday Evenings are for Adults: Join us each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. for:
a) the James Bryan Smith book study, The Good and Beautiful Life, led by Deron Spoo in the Fellowship Hall.
b) a Deaf Bible Study, The Survival Kit for New Christians, in the Deaf LIFE Group Class, Room 316 South.
6. The Springs is recruiting volunteers to help continue the work our church began last year in Sand Springs. There are ministries currently running that need help to continue to successfully serve the Sand Springs community. Currently, volunteers are needed with any skill set for general set-up and tear-down; workers for Preschool and Children’s ministry (must have or be able to successfully pass an FBI background check); student ministry; and/or AV technicians to run the video computer and to mix audio. Friendly faces are needed on people who have a passion for others and are not afraid to walk by faith. For more information, please contact Eric Barron, Campus Pastor, at 594-5051.
7. Our Annual Fall Attendance Emphasis is coming up on Sunday morning, November 7 (Time Change). The church will furnish Krispy Kreme Dontus for all Preschool, Children’s, Student & Adult Groups.
8. There are four PROTOS classes for Adults on Sunday evenings, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. These classes deal with Christian History, Biblical Theology, Spiritual Discipline, and Biblical Financial practices.
9. Our CrossOver Ministry is in need of adults, college students, singles, and/or couples who are willing to invest in these young people by driving a bus, riding a bus, teaching a Bible study, or simply spending time with the students. CrossOver meets on Sunday nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Drivers are needed from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers may serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. 10. Women’s Ministry. A new book study will begin on Thursday, October 21, 12:00 Noon. The study, Fingerprints of God, will be led by Terri Moore.
11. Business Meeting will be held Sunday, October 24, 2010, at 5:00 o’clock pm., to take action on the proposed 2011 Church Budget. The meeting is open to all members.
